Until we found this Kid Approved Broccoli recipe, Broccoli was consumed only in stir-fries. Honestly, this is a very basic but flavorful preparation of Broccoli. Stir Fry Broccoli for Kids

Now how can one go wrong with a minimalist, kid approved recipe that is ready in less than 20 minutes . What I like about this recipe is that not only is the Broccoli soft and tender for little A but Dr.Mystery and I like to enjoy that element of crunch too, so it’s that perfect in between consistency. If you haven’t embraced Broccoli as one of the ingredients in your cooking or don’t cook it as much, here is why you should do so right away.

My grandma flavors it with a flavorful tempering of mustard seeds, ginger, garlic and chillies. Mustard seeds and chillies can be optional if you don’t have the ingredients handy or don’t like it hot. This batch of chillies were not hot but the aroma of stir fried chillies is so good that I like to add them.

What is the secret to making broccoli recipes for kids?

So here is what makes this recipe a hit with kids and the rest of the family. It’s the tempering . Tempering is a great way to infuse flavors into a dish. Ofcourse you can temper it with spices and condiments you like. But so far my favorites have been lots of garlic and curry leaves. I also like to add some mild green chillies and mustard seeds and luckily little A loves it and doesn’t complain a bit. A dash of lemon juice in the end, is a great way to finish this up just before serving. All of these in just minimalist oil and the aromas will spread through your kitchen immediately. The flavors make it tempting for the kids and once they taste it, they will like it.

Sometimes we like to consume it as a side , sometimes as maindish and if I have leftovers I pull them out for our snack too. So what’s awesome is I can make it fit into any of my meals. I have often made this preparation during little A’s playdates and parents were surprised that their kids enjoyed Broccoli when they don’t eat Broccoli otherwise. Honestly, Dr. Mystery and I didn’t consume it as much either until we got hooked onto this recipe.
