It has a rich flavor that compliments the mushrooms perfectly. You can use your favorite mushrooms when you make this recipe.

When you make creamy mushroom pasta, you will want to have the following ingredients on hand:

  • Fettuccini - You could use another long noodle if you prefer.
  • Butter - You could sub in oil if you want to make this vegan.
  • Olive oil - You can use a different light tasting oil if you prefer.
  • Mushrooms sliced - You can use your preferred variety.
  • Garlic cloves
  • White cooking wine - This adds some added flavor and richness to the pasta, but doesn’t taste like wine.
  • Vegetable broth - You could use mushroom broth or water to cook the pasta, but water does not add any added flavor.
  • Heavy Cream - You can use cream cheese, milk, or a vegan milk if you prefer. Vegan milk can make the pasta vegan. Other options may also make the pasta sauce a bit thinner.
  • Parmesan - You can grate your own or use canned parmesan.
  • Salt and pepper - Add both of these to taste.
  • Lemon juice - We use fresh lemon juice, but bottled could work in a pinch.
  • Parsley - This is for garnish.

When you make Instant Pot creamy mushroom pasta, follow these steps:

  1. First, using the saute mode in the Instant Pot, heat the olive oil .
  2. Add in the butter and mushroom slices and then allow the mushroom slices to sweat .
  3. Next, add in the garlic, salt, and pepper . Saute until aromatic.
  4. Then, add the white cooking wine and deglaze the pot , stirring the pot continuously but gently. Continue stirring until the wine smell goes away.
  5. Next, add the vegetable broth followed by the halved fettuccine in a criss cross pattern to help prevent the pasta from sticking together. Submerge the pasta gently under the liquid but stop stirring at this point.
  6. Next, close the lid, seal the vent, and pressure cook for 5 minutes , followed by a quick pressure release .
  7. When the pressure releases, open the lid carefully and add the cream, parmesan, and lemon juice . Stir the ingredients together. If you would like it thicker, saute for a few minutes until the sauce thickens .

When you make mushroom cream sauce pasta, you will want to follow these easy tips and tricks for best results:

  • Don’t over cook the pasta ! You want it to be soft but firm.
  • The cream should thicken once you add it to the pot, but if needed, saute for a few minutes to thicken it.
  • You can add additional cheese on top if you like, such as mozzarella or more parmesan cheese.

You can use your favorite variety. Both white and portobello mushrooms are readily available in most stores and both work well. You could use other varieties if you prefer though.

We find that using heavy cream makes the best creamy sauces. The added fat in the cream really offers the best flavor, most indulgent texture, and helps to thicken the pasta.

Wine adds a bit of flavor in the background and a bit of richness, but it does not taste like wine. It is also fine to serve children since the alcohol all cooks off. But, if you like, you can skip the wine altogether.

If you like, you could sub cream cheese or milk for the heavy cream in the soup. It will be a bit thinner if you do. You could also sub in oil for the butter and a vegan milk like cashew milk to make it vegan.

When you make this pasta, you can add additional veggies if you like. We find that adding spinach adds a nice pop of color, flavor, and extra nutrients! You can also add zucchini, other types of mushrooms, or your favorite veggies.
